- I guess that particular Cardinal modem doesn't support the AT%Q command.
- AT%L tells you the number of dBm the remote modem is being read at (and on
- some modems, the level you are sending at). The number is inverted, so
- 043 means -43dBm. This is **BAD**.

- The limit on how high the modem is allowed to transmit is -9dBm. I think
- most do somewhere between -10 and -15. The manual for the Supras here say
- they are supposed to handle down to -25dBm well, but there is one line
- with wiring coming from next door that gets readings around -35dBm which
- usually connects 2400 bps slower than the other lines that it says are -17
- or -18. Because dB is a logarithmic scale, -43dBm is over 6 TIMES less
- power transferred across the line, so the line attenuation could be your
- problem.
